Holland Euro 2008 Odds

The Holland Euro 2008 betting shortened to 7/2 as they became favourites again to win the Tournament. As Holland has already won the sc called ‘Group of Death’ the cynics amongst us would suggest that Holland could do a lot worse than lose their final Group game against Romania. In doing so they would effectively eliminate the World Champions and the World Cup runners-up in one foul swoop. A defeat for Holland of course would ruin their unbeaten tag, but does that really matter?. However, while Holland have beaten both the 2006 World Cup finalists emphatically, the Romanians have managed to draw with both of them and it would be extremely unfortunate for the Romanians if they were to lose or draw against Holland and thus allow the winners of France and Italy to qualify. Such is the ‘Group of Death’ predicament.

Holland has already won the Group, no matter what happens elsewhere, and if we were Marco Van Basten we would rather see the Romanian’s remain in the Tournament rather than France or Italy. If he was thinking like us of course we would strongly advise you to back Romania against Holland and double the bet with backing Romania to qualify.

It is interesting to see the way the Bookmakers have priced up this match, unless we are reading it all wrong, most of them have Romania as odds on favourites at around 10/11, while you can back Holland to win at 5/2. Are the Bookmakers being as cynical as us?
