Tiger Woods US Open Odds
The Tiger Woods US Open odds for this Tiger Woods betting extravaganza show the great man to be 2/7 favourite to win his third US Open. Tiger is the clear favourite to see off his US partner Roco Mediate who is a 11/4 chance in the play off over 18 holes. Playing on a course he loves at Torrey Pines, he has won here six times in the past at the Buick International and under normal circumstances you would say it is hard to oppose him this week. However this is not the Tigers number one event, he has only won the US Open a mere twice. He has been runner up twice too, including last year when he was tied second, behind Angel Cabrera. Woods is also playing his first Tournament since the Masters in April and reports suggest that he has not fully recovered from a leg injury.
For odd reasons, the US Open seems to throw up a surprise winner, last year Argentinian, Angel Cabrera won, the year before it was the turn of Australian, Geoff Ogilvie and in 2005, it was Michael Campbell from New Zealand who won it. All these men are very fine golfers, but none were expected to come to such a prestigious event and win it and it could be that a similar result could happen this year.

Men who seem in form are Sergio Garcia from Spain, who has still yet to win a Major. He won the Players Championship a few weeks ago and was a very impressive tied 4th last week at the St Jude Classic. Podraig Harrington had a welcome return to top form last week too. He tied with Garcia in 4th place last week and was striking the ball in great fashion. Garcia and Harrington are both around 20/1 to win this week. Phil Mickelson, who has yet to win the US Open is another obvious candidate, and is best priced at 8/1 to do so this week. It is almost futile to look at the hopes of the Brits and for the Europeans generally. There has only been one European winner in the modern era and that was Tony Jacklin back in 1970. Outside of Harrington and Garcia the next best priced European is however is Luke Donald at 33/1. He might well be worth considering as he has performed on this course in the past.
