The France v Romania odds for this France Romania betting match have the French as 5/6 odds on favourites, while the Romanians can be backed at around 4/1. The draw is a 5/2 chance. It is widely acknowledged that France has one of the strongest squads in the Tournament and they are the choice of many pundits to become the eventual winners. The only team to have beaten them in their last 29 games are Scotland, who have beaten them twice , but were unable to stop them from qualifying. A closer look at the French however reveal that they are a team of aging players and their likely centre midfield partnership of Viera and Makelele may well be the oldest in the Tournament. Up front it will be interesting to see if coach, Raymond Domenech sticks with Thierry Henry, who has not had his most illustrious season at Barcelona. He has a potentially terrific replacement for Henry however in the form of Lyon striker, Karim Benzema, he has scored lots of times for Lyon this year and will be a big name in the future. His odds of 33/1 to finish as tournament top scorer could be a very good bet, particularly if they qualify from the Group stages.
The Romanians have a striker in form too. Adrian Mutu, the former Chelsea striker has had an excellent season for Fiorentina and comes to Euro 2008 full of confidence, as do the Romanians as a whole. They are the unfancied team in the so called ‘Group of death’ and yet their qualification record and recent form suggests very strongly that they can seriously upset the odds. They play a great counter-attacking game, evidenced in their very impressive 3-0 victory recently over Russia.
We fancy that the Romanians could easily be the surprise team at Euro 2008 and their odds of around 4/1 against qualifying from the Group are attractive enough to have a go on. We also fancy that they can get at least a draw with France and the odds of 5/2 against them achieving that should not be overlooked. Mutu is 11/4 to score on the night.
