Frankie Dettori Derby Odds
Frankie Dettori Derby odds are shortening now that he looks like riding the Godolphin trained Rio de la Plata in this weeks Epsom Derby. Originally he was going to have the ride on 2000 Guineas failure Ibn Khaldun, but now that Rio de le Plata has risen to the top of the Godolphin pecking order, Frankie will have the ride on him instead.
It’s a good ride too on paper; Rio de la Plata ran a cracking race last time out finishing quickly behind Falco in France from a very poor draw. A repeat of that performance and Frankie could go very close and possibly even repeat his success from last year.
Dettori is the most popular and well known jockey riding in the UK and he and his mount should be well supported by the once a year backers, who might well be rewarded for this year’s choice. The Derby is still the most important Classic on the racing calendar and although there have been more detractors than ever before this year, the race still promises plenty and could go to any one of a dozen horses, including Rio de la Plata.

The horse is currently a 25/1 shot, but he is sure to shorten as the week progresses. He has pleased connections at home and the run in France has been described as an excellent warm up for the Derby.
