Welsh Open Golf Odds

The Welsh Open Golf Odds for this week’s Celtic Manor Welsh Open, as always are being decided by form and reputation. The Tournament will be played on the fantastic twenty ten course, which will be home to the 2010 Ryder Cup and should provide a course for a testing but spectacular Tournament.

Last year’s winner, Richard Sterne, from S Africa will be in the field. He has had a fairly indifferent season so far, but did win the Johannesburg Masters, in S Africa earlier in the year. The field in fact will be headed by current British Open Champion, Padraig Harrington, who will be looking for a better performance than his mediocre showing at the recent Irish Open. Padraig in fact needs to do well to earn Ryder Cup points; his once virtually guaranteed place is under threat currently.

There are a number of players in fact who will have one eye on the Ryder Cup, particularly, Oliver Wilson from England. His sixth Tour second place in last week’s PGA at Wentworth, demonstrated that he is a great young golfer in the making and in great form. He lost in a play off to Miguel Angel Jiminez, who himself is in a rich vein of form and he plays here this week looking to repeat his success of 2005.

Other notables who line up in Wales will be Colin Montgomerie, Darren Clarke, Robert Karlsson (3rd in both last week’s PGA and the Irish open the week before), Paul McGinley and Nick Dougherty.
