England v New Zealand Odds
The England v New Zealand odds in this second England v New Zealand 2nd Test match, once again have England as odds on favourites, despite not getting the upper hand in last week’s first test draw. New Zealand more than handled themselves, and in parts they looked very impressive, McCullum’s knock in the first innings was one of the best Lords innings seen and his equally big hitting team mate, Jacob Oram’s second innings ton, was almost as impressive. Led astutely by Daniel Vettori, the Kiwi’s are clearly not here to lie down and are very, very capable of giving England a problem. They are quoted at 11/1 against winning, ridiculously generous and definitely worth taking.
The wicket at Old Trafford usually provides an excellent cricket wicket, and provided the bad weather stays away, an excellent Test match is promised. Other than Cook, Strauss and Captain, Michael Vaughan, the England batsmen looked ordinary. Kevin Pietersen, expected to be top batsman in the three test series, looked cumbersome and it’s possible that he is beginning to worry that his technique might well have been rumbled at Test match level. He is 4/1 to be England’s top batsman, but favourite at 5/2 to repeat the feat from the first Test is Captain Michael Vaughan, who played extremely well for his Hundred at Lord’s. Ryan Sidebottom is expected to be England’s top bowler.
