Derby Odds
Derby odds will be big business for Bookmakers in the build up to the second classic of the season which is run at Epsom on Saturday 7th June. The market for the race has seen several different favourites head the betting in the weeks leading up to the race but it looks as though Irish Raider, Casual Conquest, will now go to post as the head of the betting. The Dermot Weld trained Colt has been the market principal since Aidan O'Brien announced that dual Guineas winner, Henrythenavigator, will not be running in the Epsom showpiece. Causal Conuest has been popular in the antepost odds for the race since winning the Derrinstown Stud Stakes in Ireland last month, a trial that has become synonymous with producing leading Derby fancies over the years, with Galileo and High Chaparral the most recent examples and Casual Conquest looks to have every chance of following in the footsteps of these two greats after being supplemented for the race at a cost of £75,000.
Paddypower Derby Odds
Casual Conquest 3/1
Curtain Call 7/2
Tartan Bearer 6/1
Taajaweed 6/1
Doctor Fremantle 8/1
Frozen Fire 8/1
Kandahar Run 14/1
Alessandro VOlta 14/1
Rio De La Plata 16/1
The biggest threat to the unbeaten Casual Conquest looks to be Luca Cumani's Curtain Call who is something of an unknown quantity after winning a modest race at Nottingham on his seasonal reappearance, however, connections seem confident about this son of Saddlers Wells, who has sired three previous Derby Winners, and he could play a major part in the race.
Other leading contenders in the race include the Sir Michael Stoute trianed pair Taajaweed and Tartan Bearer whislt Frozen Fire looks to be the pick of the Aidan O'Brien entries.
