Chester Cup Tip and Odds

The Chester Cup tip and odds for this exciting handicap race has led us to have a close look at Sentry Duty. Currently at around 14/1, the Nicky Henderson trained horse, is in great condition having been hurdling this season and will come to the Chester race very fit. The stable has booked top apprentice William Buick for the ride, who will take 3lb off him.

Henderson is one of the canniest Trainers around and is remembered for saddling top hurdler Landing Light to victory in the Cesarawitch a few years ago. A similar success can be expected here with Sentry Duty.

Well backed Double Banded is a definite runner after making the cut for the 17 strong field. Trained by John Dunlop, the horse has received plenty of support and is currently 2nd favourite behind Highland Legacy. Highland Legacy is 9/2 currently with Double Banded 6/1. Both of these two favourites were 12/1 when betting opened for this race so both are significant market movers.

Another National Hunt trainer trying his luck is Alan King. He saddles last week’s Sagaro Stakes winner, Shipmaster, who is top weighted and given a 3lb penalty for the win. He is listed as 12/1 for the race.
