Chester Cup Tip

The Chester Cup tip is always a bit difficult to narrow down to just one horse as there are so many factors that enter into the equation. It is so early in the season and we tend to get drawn to horses that have won a race early in the campaign and the Chester Cup betting reflects those that have got a jump start on the rest at the head of the market. Nevertheless, there is one that stands out and ticks a lot of the boxes is the John Dunlop trained Double Banded who is currently second favourite for the race and this might make up for the dissapointment of Muthabara in the 1000 Guineas.

Double Banded improved all last season and has a great record of finishing in the top three doing so in his last 7 races and a each way bet at around 6/1 could well pay dividends. He also showed this season that he is in good form winning at Nottingham at the end of April

In other big race betting news In the Oaks Dar Re Mi is 6-1 from 8-1 clear favourite for the Epsom classic following the 1,000 Guineas. Lush Lashes is 12-1 from 16-1 after staying on well in the final stages. Kitty Matcham is out to 14-1 from 12-1. Gowran Park Listed race winner Chinese White is 7-1 from 10-1.

Spokesman Damian Walker said: “Two days of Classics at Newmarket have failed to shed any meaningful light on the Derby and the Oaks. “We have trimmed Dar Re Mi to 6-1 from 8-1 for the Oaks as you would normally expect a strong contender to emerge from the 1,000 Guineas, but Lush Lashes and Kitty Matcham hardly appeal at this stage. “While the Classics failed to produce many Classic clues, Chinese White is now 7-1 second favourite for the Oaks after her comfortable Listed race win at Gowran Park.”
