Odds Boxing Calzaghe v Hopkins Las Vegas 19th April

The odds for this weekend's big boxing match between Joe Calzaghe - Bernard Hopkins have Calzaghe as a clear odds on favourite. This may be a surprise to some, as Hopkins is most definately one of the all time great fighters. If one ignores his first ever fight defeat, Hopkins, has only lost to the incredible Roy Jones and to the almost as impressive Jermaine Taylor(twice). Many experts believe he has lost none of his ability to 'old Father time', despite being 43 years old. He is also fighting in his favourite city and will have a huge amount of support on his side. Therefore his odds of around 9/4 seem very attractive, when compared to Joe's 1/2.

Admittedly Welshman Joe has still yet to face defeat, but many can argue that he has faced nothing like the quality of opposition that Hopkins has mixed it with. Joe is also no 'spring chicken', he is 36 years old now, and question marks still linger regarding his left hand. There are however no such question marks about his speed, style and courage. With luck we may get to see the very best of Calzaghe, they say the 'best brings out the best', if this is true here then the fight has all the hallmarks of being an all time classic. Perhaps Joe can continue the sporting success enjoyed by the Welsh this year
