2008 Grand National Winner
The 2008 Grand National winner is really tough to predict, as if we said it was easy you would stop reading now. Apart from the favourite Cloudy lane the odds for the next 12 horses in the betting are separated by only 10 points. This highlights that this National is wide open as for the first time in years there is a compressed handicap with all the 40 runners only separated by 18 pounds. Normally the bottom weight is on 10 stone, while this year Dun Doire the lowest weighted horse in the race has 10 stone 8 pounds on his back.

In the past we would have suggested that you look at horses who were 11 stone 2 pounds or under as only a handful of horses have won with more than this weight in the last 38 years. If this was a normal year we could have knocked out at least 20 of the field but not this year.
So where does this leave us in trying to find this years winner? To be honest Knowhere, and no that is not the horse we fancy in the race, really nowhere! We do have one horse that we like at the prices as he comes from a stable in form and has improved for the application of blinkers. The name on our shortlist is Comply Or Die, you just never know we may after all have picked the 2008 Grand National winner, only time will tell!
