Grand National Odds
The Grand National odds for the 2008 Aintree Grand National, sees a very firm favourite in Cloudy Lane. It is expected that the Donald McCain trained horse will be the shortest priced favourite in over 30 years at his current price of 5/1. Not since Red Rum which was trained by Donald's father, Ginger, have we had such a skinny priced favourite for the race. Many online Betfair layers will be licking their lips at this price as the big players are bound to take him on at these odds. They will justify their position on the basis that Cloudy Lane is a relatively small horse, who is taking on the Grand National fences for the first time.

Irish raider Chelsea Harbour is 14-1 from 16-1 with totesport for the John Smith’s Grand National after good support today. Spokesman Damian Walker said: “Chelsea Harbour has done all his winning on soft or heavy ground but that doesn’t seem to be putting punters off backing him. “The Grand National trip doesn’t look a problem though, as he stayed on dourly over three-and-a-half miles at Punchestown earlier this season. Cloudy Lane, at 5-1, is still the best backed horse in the race having been available at 25-1 with totesport when the Grand National weights were announced in February.”
Other Grand National movers today were: McKelvey (18-1 from 22-1), D’Argent (25-1 from 33-1) and Joacci (50-1 from 66-1).
