2008 Grand National Runners
The 2008 Grand National Runners got narrowed down to 99 following the five day declaration stage on Monday noon. All the main proponents stand their ground including the hot favourite Cloudy Lane who is currently a 6/1 chance but it is expected that he will go off at around 5/1 on the day. Other leading fancies in the race Comply Or Die, Bewleys Berry, Simon and Slim Picking are also on track to make the line up come Saturday afternoon. The final declarations will be made on Thursday morning when 49 of the 99 will be balloted out of the race.

Hedgehunter is the top weight in the race off 11 stone 12 pounds and he will be looking to follow up his 2005 victory and he will be ridden by leading jockey Ruby Walsh. Some of those that have been taken out of the contest include Patsy Hall, Over The Creek, Ungaro, Royal Auclair, Billyvoddan, Always Waining and Patman Du Charmil, Alexander Taipan and Juful Tennis.
It is likely that Dun Doire, Joes Edge and Drombeag will make the cut but we will only know this for certain on Thursday morning. It is expected that the betting will really kick into gear from today following these announcements as the main contenders are no probably going to line up for the race.
