Comply or Die was top weight rated 11lb below the ceiling of 150 and the pace of this race was fair he had never shone over marathon trips previously, after this win there is no doubting his stamina. He seemed rejuvenated by blinkers when second to Cloudy Lane in testing ground at Haydock on his previous start, the winner again wore headgear and built on that run, racing up with the pace and staying on strongly after being left clear at the second-last. He hung left from three out and this was his first win since November 2004, but he’s clearly in good heart at present, but Aintree will be a different proposition.
