Ladies Australian Tennis Odds
The Ladies Australian Tennis odds took on a whole new look following Maria Sharapova blowning the womens draw wide open at the Australian Open. She knocked out top seed and world number one Justine Henin at the quarter final stage. The 6-4, 6-0 demolition of the champion leaves her as 8/11 favourite to lift the year's first major trophy, but will the ruthless Russian be able to hold off some stern challengers? Serbian star Jelena Jankovic lies in Sharapova's path in a mouth-watering semi-final showdown, after the third seed ousted reigning champion Serena Williams. The Russian has shown great prowess and clean hitting on the Australian surface, and could make this her year after a fourth successive semi-final place.

Despite her impressive performance, the Serbian is still only 7/1 fourth favourite for the title – owing largely to the continuing involvement of tough cookie Williams (10/3) and her quarter final opponent tomorrow, another Serbian and fourth seed Ana Ivanovic (6/1 for the title). While ranking below Ivanovic, Williams (4/7) still goes in as favourite, owing to her grand slam pedigree and a flawless 4-0 career record against her opponent. Ivanovic (5/4) will be wary of an opponent who has never dropped a set against her, including last year's 6-4, 6-2 master-class in the Wimbledon semi-finals.
The other remaining quarter final sees underdogs Agnieszka Radwanska and Daniela Hantuchova lock horns, with both perhaps likely to tempt punters fancying a 25/1 outside bet for the tournament. Ninth seed Hantuchova is 4/5 favourite to progress, but at 10/11 18 year-old Radwanska will know that she mastered the only previous meeting between the two and has already ousted 14th seed Nadia Petrova in the last round.
