Green Bay Packers New York Giants NFC Championships Odds

It’s Championship weekend in the NFL and the Green Bay Packers New York Giants NFC Championships Odds sees Brett Favre and the Packers as the odds-on, 1/3 favourites to be crowned NFC Champions and heading to Glendale, Arizona on February 3rd for Superbowl XLII. However, the NFL’s post season surprise package, the New York Giants, are the visitors at Lambeau Field on Sunday and Giants Quarterback, Eli Manning, will be hoping to lead his side to yet another win on the road following victories over Tampa Bay and a major upset against the Cowboys so far in the Play Offs. The Giants have already broken the NFL Franchise record for the number of consecutive road victories, having won their last eight away from Giants Stadium and anyone who believes that the New York Giants can claim yet another major scalp and make it nine straight wins on the road, can have a bet at odds of 5/2 that it will be the Giants facing up against either the New England Patriots or San Diego Chargers at Superbowl in two weeks time.

Green Bay are currently the 5/1 second favourites behind the New England Patriots to win the Superbowl and the Packers could be forgiven for thinking that they had played their last game of the season at Lambeau following the 42-20 win over the Seahawks last weekend. However, New York Giant’s shock win over Dallas in the NFC’s other divisional game means that the Packers hold home field advantage for this game, something that could prove crucial in deciding the outcome of this encounter. The crowd and weather at Lambeau against the Seahawks played a huge part in determining the manner in which the Packers won and a repeat performance on Sunday should provide the Packers with a big advantage over the Giants.

Packer’s first season running back Ryan Grant posted a huge 201 rushing yards for three touchdowns last weekend and the Giants defense will have their work cut out to stop him on Sunday. Grant is 11/2 to score the first touchdown of the game. If that wasn’t enough, the G-Men’s pass rush will also have to be on song to stop Brett Favre, who will be looking to cap an amazing season with a second Superbowl ring to his collection, having picked up his first, the last time the Packers won the Superbowl in 1997.

The Giants will also have to play well when in control of the football and much will depend on the performance of Quarterback Eli Manning. Following the departure of his brother, Peyton and the Colts, from the play offs last weekend, Eli now carries the hopes of the Manning family and whilst many are saying that he has come of age in the past two games he faces his biggest challenge to date yet against the Packers. Veteran Wide Receiver Amani Toomer, now in his twelfth season with the Giants, was on the end of four of Manning’s passes against Dallas, two of which were in the end zone and Toomer is 12/1 to be the first touchdown on Sunday.
