NFL Wild Card Play Offs Betting Odds

NFL Wild Card Play Offs betting odds will be popular among American Football fans this weekend as the road to Superbowl XLII begins for the twelve NFL teams who made it through the regular season and in to the NFL Play Offs. This coming Saturday and Sunday sees the first set of post season NFL games as the eight teams who finished in the wild card positions will look to progress a step closer to their respective divisional titles and an appearance at Superbowl XLII which will be played in Glendal, Arizona on Sunday 3 February.

The first wild card game is an NFC battle between the Seattle Seahawks take and Washington Redskins on Saturday. The Seahawks, who were defeated in the 2006 Superbowl, head in to the game as 20/27 favourites to win with Bet365 having finished the regular season 10-6 and holding home advantage. However, the Redskins, who finished 9-7 will prove tough opponents and much will depend on the performance of Running Back Clinton Portis as to whether they can progress beyond the wild card stage.

The other NFC Wild Card match takes place on Sunday when the New York Giants travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers, who, since winning the Superbowl in 2003 have struggled to recapture such glory and will be hoping that home advantage will be enough to see them progress. The New York Giants, who finished the season10-6 and runners up to the Cowboys in the NFC East, have struggled to find any sort of consistency throughout the season but have more than capable players in all units and should Quarterback, Eli Manning deliver the type of big performance that has been expected of him for so long, then the 13/10 on offer at Bet365 about a Giants win could be a good bet.

In the battle for AFC supremacy, the Jacksonville Jaguars travel to 2006 Superbowl Champions the Pittsburgh Steelers in Saturday night’s other live game. This match promises to be a thriller and the odds compilers cannot separate the two, with the Jaguars fancied just that little bit more, giving up 2 points on the handicap. When these two sides met in week 15 of the regular season, the Jaguars left Heinz Field 29-22 victors and as one of the NFL Play Offs most in-form teams, it would be difficult not to see the Jaguars winning this game yet again.

The final Wild Card game of the weekend see the San Diego Chargers take on the Tennessee Titans. This is a game in which the Chargers are strongly fancied to overcome a 9.5 start at odds of 10/11 on the handicap or 2/9 to win the game outright. The Chargers were Superbowl favourites at this stage last season before getting beat by the Patriots in the divisional Play Offs, therefore it will be no surprise to see the Chargers come out looking to make amends, against a Titans side who have made real progress this season, but could find this game a step too far.

All the NFL Wild Card games are shown live on Sky Sports in the United Kingdom as the popularity of the sport continues to grow on the other side of the Atlantic. The UK schedule is

Saturday 5th Jan 9:30pm – Washington Redskins at Seattle Seahawks followed by Jacksonville Jaguars at Pittsburgh Steelers
Sunday 6th January 6pm – New York Giants at Tampa Bay Buccaneers followed by Tennessee Titans at San Diego Chargers.
