Hennessy Gold Cup Odds

The Hennessy Gold Cup odds have now been marked up by Stan James with the Paul Nicholls Grade 2 Aintree Novice Chase winner, Big Bucks, the 5/1 favourite.The Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup takes place at Newbury on Saturday 29th NovemberThe Charlie Mann trained Air Force One is next in the betting at 13/2, while John Quinn's Character Building is just behind at 8/1.

Stan James Head of PR, Charlie McCann said "Paul Nicholls has twice won the Hennessy with second season chasers in recent years but we are not convinced that Big Bucks has the credentials or class of subsequent Grand National winner Strong Flow or this year's brilliant Gold Cup winner Denman. The step up in trip at Aintree certainly helped Big Bucks but we are not convinced he will confirm the form with Battlecry and Albertas Run at the Berkshire venue. Both Strong Flow and Denman were returned 5/1 when they won their Hennessy's and it is possible that Big Bucks will start an awful lot shorter than them. That is more to do with the current Nicholls domination than the form book in our opinion".
