The Birmingham Man Utd betting for this Saturdays Premier League match at St Andrews has United as the eight to fifteen on favourites to keep up their good recent run in the league especially now the Ferguson has got the Carling Cup out of the way early and Steve Bruce can bring back his first team for this fixture having rested his side who went down to Blackburn in the Carling Cup in midweek and you can get five to one Birmingham with the draw at eleven to four but United mean business here and are difficult to oppose.
Birmingham City followed up a narrow home win over Bolton with a fantastic point at Anfield last week, and holding Benitez's side at Anfield was certainly no fortunate point for the Blues who actually had chances to win the game before it eventually ended in a 0-0 draw. Earlier in the season they were really unfortunate to lose 3-2 at Chelsea, and this Birmingham side looks to be well equipped to make a decent fist of their survival bid this term.
In truth, sides expected to be involved in the relegation battle must look to beat those around them in the table first and foremost, with any success against the top sides a bonus, and taking points off Manchester United here would be a massive boost to everyone at St Andrews.
Steve Bruce's side have definitely picked up after a rather slow start that saw them taking just a single point from home games against Middlesbrough and West Ham, and in Olivier Kapo they look to have a genuinely top-quality player. Kapo would have lined up alongside Borja Oubina in a really solid-looking midfield, but the Spanish international on loan from Celta Vigo ruptured a cruciate ligament just 13 minutes into his debut against Liverpool and will miss the next 6 months.
Aside from Oubina Steve Bruce should have his entire first-team squad available for selection, and he will need every one of them to be on top of their form if they are to get anything from the visit of the champions, who rightly begin as favourites but will not have an easy afternoon here.
Alex Ferguson could hardly have imagined a better weekend than the one he and Manchester United enjoyed last time out, with their victory over Chelsea and Liverpool's surprising draw with Birmingham seeing them cut to just 6/4 to retain their Premiership title. That 2-0 win over Avram Grant's side made it 4 wins and 4 clean sheets in a row for United who have moved ominously up the table, and Wednesday's Carling Cup exit against Coventry is no indication of any problems at the club after they made 11 changes for the home defeat to the Championship side.
Ferguson will of course recall his big guns for this one, and that should include a return to the squad for Owen Hargreaves who has been troubled by a thigh injury, whilst Gary Neville could also be included having not played at all this season.
Mikael Silvestre is out for the season and Darren Fletcher will miss out here with a knee injury, though perhaps the most significant piece of team news is the continued return to full fitness of Louis Saha who scored against Chelsea and who gives United a different dimension up front.
Birmingham have failed to win any of their previous 9 meetings with Manchester United, though they did manage to hold them to a 2-2 draw in the last meeting at St Andrews, and a repeat of that result would be most welcome for the Blues. However, United are in great form and look rock-soild at the back, and surely they will have that extra bit of quality to win this game, and 8/15 the away win looks well worth backing.
