Roger Charlton’s Definightly will go to post in the Ayr Silver Cup on Saturday as a strong favourite, with odds of 9/2 available from Paddy Power to win, despite the fact that he has been drawn in stall 13. The outcome of the race, particularly from the perspective of the draw, will have a huge bearing on the betting in the Ayr Gold Cup later in the day.
Definightly was a winner of a quality Listed race last week at Goodwood and clearly has a touch of class about him. The drop back to handicap company would seem a shrewd move from trainer, Roger Charlton, who is no stranger to success in races like this. The win at Goodwood was in fact the 4 year old’s second win on the trot as he had won a six furlong handicap with top weight just a couple of weeks before and looked mightily impressive in the process.

Winner last week over 7 furlongs, in a quality handicap with a big field of runners, this 5 year old has plenty of power, but he has never won over six furlongs, which is a little worrying, but he is reported in fine form and jockey Paul Hanagan is very bullish about his chances. Irish Heartbeat has been drawn in stall 20, which is ideal if the high number stalls take precedence this week at Ayr.
Mark Johnston’s Hajoum and Kevin Ryan’s, Tiddliwinks come next in the betting with odds of 12/1 available from Paddy power and both look like they have genuine chances, Hajoum, in particular comes to Ayr in great form with two wins over seven furlongs, in good handicap company already this month and is in at the weights with the two favourites. Mark Johnston’s horses more often than not give a punter his money’s worth and the step back in trip to six furlongs might be an inspirational move. Although not having found the winners enclosure so far this year, Tiddliwinks must be in with a great chance if his second place to Poets Place in the Portland Handicap last week at Doncaster is anything to go by. Poets Place of course is favourite for the Ayr Gold Cup later in the day; he is drawn in stall number 24.

This looks like a good race in prospect but we think the favourite, provided the draw does not harm his chances can go in here and we would tip him to win with Mark Johnston’s , Hajoum set to chase him home.
