York Ebor Racing Festival
The York Ebor racing festival is once more upon us. The meeting which starts on Tuesday 19th August and will run for 4 days rather than its normal three. There has been considerable investment into both the Knavesmire course and this meeting ensuring the racing during the week will be top class. The feature races will be the Group One International Stakes which will be the feature on Day One. On day two the feature will be the famous Ebor Handicap, Day three is Yorkshire Oaks day, while on day 4 will host the Group One Nunthorpe Stakes. The International Stakes will see the return to the track of the Aiden O'Brien trained, Duke of Marmalade, who many people believe is the best mid distance horse in the world right now. He is a clear odds on favourite at 4/6 and is a sure fire winner, provided nothing goes wrong with him between now and then. His main challenger will be Henry Cecil's Phoenix Tower who was runner up to another of O'Brien's stars, Mount Nelson in the Eclipse Stakes last month.

The Tote Ebor Handicap will see George Margason's Young Mick take on the field again. The horse was third in the race in 2006 but reports suggest that he is at the top of his game and a big run is expected. The Yorkshire Oaks could see a return battle between Epsom Oaks winner, Look Here and Jim Bolger's, Lush Lashes. There is some suggestion that Lush Lashes may not race and she has been kept very busy so far this season and might be in need of a break. On the Final day, Captain Gerrard looks a good thing in the Nunthorpre Stakes, but it is a very competitive field as usual but punters should be able to get very good odds on him.
