The July Cup odds for this Friday's big Group One sprint on the Newmarket July course has the impressive Australian horse, Scenic Blast as clear favourite at around 11/8. Scenic Blast could hardly have been more impressive when winning the Kings Stand Stakes on the opening day at Royal Ascot last month and now bids for his second Group One race within a few short weeks. Some Bookmakers have him as short as 11/10 but punters can still snap him up at 11/8 with Paddy Power

Next in the betting is the Richard Hannon trained Paco Boy but it is unlikely that he will run unless Newmarket gets considerably more rain. The main challenge therefore to Scenic Blast is likely to come from the Kings Stand second, Fleeting Spirit, trained by Jeremy Noseda and Art Connoisseur who won the Golden Jubilee at the Royal meeting. Fleeting Spirit who was beaten ¾ length at Royal Ascot but has been working extremely well at home and she deserves her chance.
