Dingle Leads Dancing On Ice Odds Table

The actress Hayley Tamaddon would make her TV family the Dingles proud by the guts she is showing on the most challenging Reality TV show that Celebrities can appear on, Dancing On Ice.  Whilst Strictly Come Dancing is notorious for contestants shedding the pounds due to the physical rigours, the extra dimension of performing on the ice rink requires enormous nerve.  The unforgiving surface can and has led to unpleasant injuries in past shows.

For this reason it is unsurprising that the younger, less trpidatious and more flexible contestants find themselves at the top of the leader board.  Whilst largely a soap star showcase with cast members from Coronation Street, Eastenders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and The Inbetweeners Hayley's closest competition at the moment comes from Mikey Graham ex Boyzone singer, who will certainly not be disadvantaged by his young female fan base when it comes to the voting.

As with all Reality TV shows whilst the audience pays attention and gives credit to skill and technical achievement , personality also counts enormously in the eventual outcome.  Looking at Chris Hollins' success in Strictly Come Dancing this year is a perfect example of this phenomenon, he was not the most accomplished of the two dancers in the final but his enthusiasm, positive energy and good humour was rewarded by the viewers.

Whilst the underdog is also often a reliable source of votes for the British viewing public, there are limits to their compassion.  John Sargent was kept in Strictly way over the time his technical skill deserved again for his willingness to join the party, but Jordan who sought to win over the Public in this years I'm A Celebrity was met with a brick wall and more Bushtucker Trials than any contestant in the shows' history.

Similarily whilst Heather Mills courage in appearing on an ice skating show with only one leg would usually inspire admiration and support, having caused public pain to National Treasure Sir Paul McCartney will find the battle to win hearts and minds a difficult one.  The reccent news that McCartney has found love and is about to marry again may however work slightly in her favour.

At the bottom of the charts TV heart throb Dr Hilary Jones, does not have youth on his side and cannot skate on sex appeal alone and whilst Sharron Davies has proved her athleticism in the past as a successful Olympic swimmer, she looks to be hampered by her age and those notorious shoulders.
