The final of Celebrity Big Brother 2012 takes place tomorrow , with five of the original contestants competing for the mantle of best housemate. As always there have been many twists and turns in the pressure cooker of the Elstree house, with early favourites like Natalie Cassidy not even reaching the endgame and the opinionated and arrogant Shannon twins somehow getting a place in the final line up. Paddy Power's markets have been ever changing in this series and after last night's final elimination they have changed again.
Nicola McClean and Romeo from So Solid Crew were the final two to be evicted. Nicola was no surprise, she simply had seemed to be more of a sheep than a personality, but Romeo had been a diplomat and peacemaker and probably stumbled as a result of voter apathy rather than unpopularity. In every series of Big Brother, whether the celebrity version or the longer Summer edition, there is a boiling point during which the winner emerges. This series that climax came as a result of high jinx between Nicola, the twins and Denise which turned into a cat fight. Egos unravelled spectacularly as integrity was called into question on all sides and the floor was left clear for the male contenders to step up.
X Factor contestant Frankie Cocozza, who went into the house with little popular support, did step up challenging Karissa and Katrina's arrogant diatribes and supporting a melting Denise. Whilst support has been growing for him over recent days, it was this action that has propelled him to the top of the Winners Market at odds of 6/5 to win with Paddy Power. perhaps like Chantelle Haughton who won Celebrity Big Brother as a mere member of the public, it is Frankie's lack of real involvement with the world of celebrity that is coming to his assistance.
Most of this week rugby player Gareth Thomas has been leading the field, with a mixture of fun and kindness, but he stepped away from the women's fracas a little too quickly for some and was unprepared to have an opinion. He is certainly still in the running at 10/3, but has been passed by Denise Welch at 15/8. Whilst at times Welch has been seen to be trying a bit too hard, especially with Michael Madsen, and a little sad when she has too much wine on board and insists on showing her boobs, she seems aware of her faults and keen to rectify them, which has endeared her to the viewers.
Michael Madsen is the outsider to win at 14/1, with the playboy twins at a lengthy 10/1. How the twins are still in the house is remarkable. The audience at the live eviction were vitriolic about them, so either they were kept in to maintain tension in the house or Hugh Heffner is employing his cash to man the Big Brother phone lines. Some investigation would certainly be required if they won the proceedings.
A Straight Forecast bet is an option with a tasty 13/2 to be had with a Gareth / Frankie combination. Whatever happens, these two men will certainly have increased their public profile in a positive manner. Job Done!
