The final series of Big Brother stumbled through the Summer with little real impact on TV schedules or viewing figures, however original the producers tried to be, until they unveiled the decision to abbreviate the show and launch 'Ultimate ' Big Brother. This looked like a master stroke giving, what can only be seen as the Grand Daddy of reality TV, an appropriate send off. Unfortunately, after last night's launch it is no surprise that given the motley array of new housemates, bookmakers Paddy Power, in their Ultimate Big Brother Betting market, have last night's winner Josie 11/10 favourite to do the double.
Having won her £100,000 prize, Josie who showed all the down to earth qualities that had won her the crown in her interview with Davina McCall, went straight back into the house where her 10 new housemates were introduced. Irish man Brian Dowling, who won the show ten years ago, is second favourite at 5/2, although the dip in his public profile may lead him to employ desperate measures which may not be as endearing as his original winning ways.

Whilst the producers have chosen some BB favourites, it appears that the most contentious and highly strung have been invited to take part. Clearly John McCririck is a grenade in any social situation with his outmoded views, especially about women, and is set to provide televisual fireworks when faced with the likes of Ulrika Jonsson (20/1) and curvaceous Makosi Musambasi (33/1). McCririck's histrionics in Celebrity Big Brother were splashed across the red tops and Big Brother is surely hoping for some more of the same.
Chantelle Haughton was clearly shocked when ex husband Preston, who she actually met on Celebrity Big Brother, walked through the door and the public empathy towards her predicament is reflected in a price of 8/1. Nikki Grahame is guaranteed to be unable to control her emotions or volume, which may work for or against her as the days unfold, but she will certainly have histrionic competition in the guise of Nadia Almada who may be a dark horse at 10/1.
