Betting On McIlroy's Next Romance: Tennis Ace Wozniacki Tops Odds

Whilst Rory McIlroy had to give way to the finer performance of fellow countryman Darren Clarke at The British Open in Sandwich last week, the 22 year old's success at the U.S.Open has propelled him swiftly into the world of celebrity. So now, not only do bookmakers Paddy Power have markets on how he will fare at the USPGA tournament but also on who his next girlfriend will be. McIlroy's youth, personable character and the record breaking way in which he stormed to victory at The US Open with a lead of 8 strokes over the pack has launched him into a world of millionaires. Striking a remarkable resemblance to Holly Sweeney with her blonde hair and long legs, Wozniacki will have a lot in common with Rory. Whilst she has not yet won a major, which must be her next goal, she will be experiencing the same financial emotional and professional pressures as McIlroy, which is a bridge that many other potential dates could not hope to cross.

Both Sporting stars also share youth and ambition, which may also be why it could be more sensible to take the 11/10 option that McIlroy will in fact remain single. The bet stipulates that money will be paid out on Rory's relationship status on the last day of the USPGA tournament as reported in The Irish Sun newspaper the day after the final. Given his poor showing at the British Open, although the weather will certainly be considered as a controlling factor, the young star will be keen to return swiftly to the practice greens and fairways to prove that he is not a one Major wonder. This drive and competitiveness would surely be something with which Wozniacki can relate but could be exactly why his personal life will be put on the backburner until the Autumn months.
