The News Of The World may havebeen disbanded and News International and Rupert Murdoch may be in the dock, but celebrity rumour mongering goes on apace, much to the delight of bookmakers Paddy Power who rely on celebrity gossip for many of their celebrity markets. With the official announcement that Jennifer Lopez's marriage to Marc Anthony is over a market is in place to speculate on her next romantic liason.
J-Lo and Anthony did well in the land of glitter by sustaining their wedlock for seven years, although they seem to have fallen foul of the 'seven year itch'. As per usual in these circumstances the announcement was accompanied with a request for privacy, which is of course understandable but highly unlikely. As the old saying 'live by the sword, die by the sword' mutates many of these individuals 'live through publicity but can be harpooned by it too'. They will both be particularly keen to keep proceedings civilised since they have just signed a deal with fashion retailer Kohl to produce his and her lines, to be launched in September, which they will be loathe to jeopardise in any way.
The couple are parents to three year old twins, so J-Lo's next choice of leading man will be watched carefully by the gossip hawks to decide whether or not she is choosing wisely. Topping the charts at the moment is William Levy who is described as a model/actor and dubbed the "Cuban Brad Pitt". The column inches started to unravel when he separated from his wife after appearing in a steamy video with Lopez.
Whilst his swathy good looks certainly qualify him for the role of Lopez lothario, a lawsuit accusing him of sexual battery on a minor, is not the sort of publicity that Lopez would welcome as she traverses the tricky hurdles of divorce. Understandably with this sort of media coverage Levy is 1/3 favourite, but shrouded as he now is with court proceedings of his own, others on the list could be more appropriate. Divorced American actor Bradley Cooper sits in second place at 8/1 having confirmed last September that he was no longer in a relationship with Rene Zellwegger and rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs, who still has never married but has five children, three of which with long term girlfriend Kim Porter seems to be in with a 16/1 chance.
