Well, as predicted here on The Betting Directory, Welsh rugby player Gareth Thomas is proving to be the Dark Horse in this year's Celebrity Big Brother ,as he now scales to the heady heights of 11/4 favourite with bookmakers Paddy Power to win the show. Welch at 53 is the matriarch of the household and so far has found a role as peace maker and Mother, but as her insecurities bubble to the surface with some strange interactions with Michael Madsen and her recent topless cavorting with teenager Frankie Cocozza her mantle is slipping, as will her popularity.
In contrast X Factor reject Cocozza who was ousted from Simon Cowell's baby for spending too much time partying is emerging as a likeable, slightly misunderstood teenage lad. What you see is pretty much what you get with Cocozza who has neither the education or the background to manipulate the BB world, which is rather a treat when more scheming egos, used to the show biz world, try to engineer popularity . He has already risen up through the ranks to third favourite at 4/1, which would be a shock to him, but a relief to whatever record company has/is taking him on.
Karina and Kristina Shannon, the playboy twins, announced confidently that if they were up for eviction next the public would not want them to go. Big Mistake. To infer that the public are eating out of a celebrity's hand paves the way to disaster. However famous or infamous a person is, the viewers cannot abide arrogance and will soon exercise their power and influence to bring the greatest of stars down by removing their support. The twins new found confidence comes on the back of a secret task they were given by Big Brother which they did exercise to perfection. Asked to simulate a fierce sibling row, their acting was so convincing, their tears so real, that all the other contestants were visibly unnerved and shaken. Whilst the performance was certainly a triumph, the ease with which the sisters replicated such deep emotions was also a little troubling. If they can act out such a traumatic situation so well, how much of what the viewers are seeing is genuine? They are both more popular and have more to contribute than Kirk Norcross or Nicola McLean,but it is marginal and will not take them through to the endgame unless they have more than glamour to offer.
Gareth Thomas is now the one to beat.
