London Marathon Odds: Will Elen Rivas Or Katie Price Cross The Line First?

Once again the streets of London will welcome the patter of thousands of feet in April, as elite athletes and fun runners alike, gather to compete in the London marathon.  London still holds the women's world record time which was set by national heroine Paula Radcliffe in 2005 in a time of 2:17:42 but both the public and bookmakers Paddy Power alike are concentrating on a more specific and far less elite competition, the one between Elen Rivas and Katie Price.

Both women have stated that they are to run in the big event, which rather than a personal endeavour has been picked up by the media as a grudge match between the ex Mrs Andre and the current girlfriend.  Peter Andre and Katie Price's courtship, marriage and divorce were all conducted in the glare of publicity, much of it generated by the couple themselves, but singer and now presenter Peter seems to have come out of the debacle with more of his dignity intact than Katie.  Her subsequent marriage to and now divorce from cage fighter Alex Reid has left her at an all time popularity low.  Ms Price will be in search of glory in the marathon.

During one of the last broadcasts of their tumultuous marriage Peter and Katie were filmed running in the big race and although she was hampered by a knee injury, they were only able to cross the line in just over seven hours.  Peter Andre has since hooked up with Elen Rivas, whose engagement to Frank Lampard brought her to the medias attention, who last year she completed the gruelling challenge in five hours and twenty minutes.

Clearly both women, spurred on by the media hype, will be keen to be seen outwitting the other on the day.  Katie Price is well known for her dogged determination and was no pushover when competing in the ITV show, Im A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, so the likelihood of her taking this contest anything but entirely seriously is unthinkable.  Clearly Rivas, who started the autumn by competing in Dancing On Ice looks to be fit and has a clear two hour advantage over Price historically, but Katie Price is likely to be stepping up her training and seeking as much advice and advantage as possible to prove a point.  10/11 Katie Price? I think so ! Peter Andre will certainly be watching on.
