Big Brother Betting: Josie Still In Front

The World Cup is over and Channel 4 will be hoping it will be able to retrieve some viewers for the last weeks of the last series of the Grand-daddy of reality TV. This year's cast of characters have been interesting viewing but have not thrown anything new into the format which has become extremely predictable. Bookmakers Paddy Power in their 'Big Brother Betting' market indicate that Josie is still in front at odds of 15/8, which underlines the irony that Big Brother winners are those exemplars of decency and good humour contrary to the 'freak show' criticism that has often been thrown at the format.

Davina McCall, whose public profile has relied so heavily on presenting BB, interviewed latest evictee Nathan this week as wel las escapee Shabby, with as much energy and as little content as has become familiar.

Three new contestants were put into the house, which is yet again expected, and the usual tribal warfare set to throw a little sparkle on the proceedings.

However innovative the producers become to keep their puppets not only stressed, but performing the same characters will emerge to take the top spot. Unfortunately for those who do have enough emotional stamina to complete the course they will now only be seen as a 'Jade type' or a 'Craig type' and will not gain the same public approval or media recognition or fortune as their predecessors. Long gone is the time when BB could launch careers as Davina I am sure is equally aware!
