The Grand Final Of The All Ireland Talent Show takes place on Sunday night on RTE and Emma O'Sullivan and John O'Halloran are still favourites with bookmakers Paddy Power to win the 50,000 euros prize. However whilst ageing accordionist John and his lithe Sean-nos dancer Emma have captured the hearts of judges and audience alike, the betting market is proving to be very fluid, indicating that their triumph may not necessarily be in the bag.
Of the other contestants in the show, singer Olwyn Murray's position, seems most confusing. After her moving rendition of Leona Lewis'song 'A Moment Like This' her odds shortened to put her as third favourite to win the final but overnight she has lengthened to Odds of 10/1 putting her last in the ranking. Chloe Coyle's position on the other hand has done the opposite moving from outsider to third favourite at 5/1 behind Ben Escorcio. The reason for this may stem from the very structure of the show. The All Ireland Talent Show has a much more parochial feel about it than the X Factor or Britain's Got Talent not only in the more traditional nature of the Acts themselves but more significantly, the initial division of the country into North, South,East and West divisions opens the way for very tribal support and voting patterns.

The Judging Panel which includes Boyzone's Shane Lynch and Eurovision songstress Dana will of course be seeking to exert their influence over the outcome and plug their area. Daithi O Se in particular, representing the west and Olwyn will be pushing for the second success in a row for the region. Betting on the final of The All Ireland Talent Show is clearly not a straightforward matter, but it has been consistently clear that o'Sullivan and O'Halloran are the ones to beat. Whether Ben Escorcio presently at 3/1, Chloe Coyle or Olwyn Murray can trounce them on the night will depend upon a once in a life time performance. Michael Lawlor and ballad group Na Fianna have proved steady and solid mid-tablers at 6/1 and 8/1 respectively but are not gripping the irish Nation as yet.
It looks likely that a united Irish vote will secure success for the traditional with a modern twist, which after all seems most appropriate!
