Whilst bearing the name of royalty, much to 'Victoria' Beckham's chagrin she, unlike Miss Middleton, is not in line for the throne regardless of the furniture that she and husband David notoriously sat on at their wedding. However, in the world of celebrity, which has certainly in the recent decade risen into the upper eschaelons of royalty, David and Victoria Beckham definetly accommodate similar column inches in the newspapers and so unsurprisingly the birth of their fourth child is providing ample copy for the red tops. Bookmakers Paddy Power mindful of this interest are offering a market on the name of the child.
The enthusiasm of having a girl after three boys has spread from the excited parents to their ardent fans, who span the worlds of fashion, pop and football. The couple have always been experts at marketing themselves and could perhaps give Prince William and Kate Middleton a few tips with their imminent nuptuals. The Beckham brand, endorsing everything from perfume to pants, is worth millions to a variety of market sectors and with David's role as ambassador for England's World Cup bid alongside Prince William last summer, his value continues to increase even though his footballing days are over.
Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz were certainly not christened with their parents' heritage in mind, so the likelihood of their daughter being called Sandra as a mark of paternal respect looks very unlikely. The Beckhams have always prided themselves on setting trends rather than following them so it is to be expected that the new baby will carry an appropriately innovative moniker. Perhaps rather than using the place of the child's conception like 'Brooklyn' they may well want to soften the route to their choices and turn to something softer and more traditional, in a fashionable way of course !
Luna at 9/4 favourite sounds entirely feasible, but Lola and Grace are equally possible, tasteful in a vintage way but with a modern twist, which sounds like a strap-line for one of Victoria's clothes ranges. The options are obviously vast and the guys at Paddy Power have given a long list of possibilities which of course may come no where near to the eventual choice but it's a flutter for fun which just might pay off. Cheryl, Chelsea and Melanie at an attractive 200/1 would however would a simple waste of money, although if Manchester had been an option that might have been worth taking. Surely it's about time that Paddy Power opened a market on when David will become 'Sir David', now that would be a punt worth taking!
