The 2010 X Factor 2010 champion has barely had enough time to carry out his first round of interviews and bookmakers Paddy Power are already keen to nurture the 20 million viewers that tuned into the live final by opening a book speculating on next years programme. More precisely Paddy Power is giving odds on the next judge to leave the X Factor. Danni Minogue is 1/3 favourite to leave the hallowed desk, which given her rate of success and her recent triumph with Matt Cardle is something of a surprise.
There are always numerous rumours around the line up of the judges panel, indeed rumours abound throughout the year, as is the case when a show is so successful and its essential characters such household names but maybe Dannii Minogue is thought to be most likely to leave after her recent sojourn into parenthood, although given that she now has little or no career outside the X Factor it would be a step into the celebrity wilderness if she were to give that up too.
Louis Walsh, at 4/1 is second favourite to leave, which given his support of both Jedward and Wagner in the last two years is altogether more understandable. Both acts, mentored by Walsh, and hence chosen by him at the judges houses stage have come close to undermining the very nature and indeed integrity of the show and his camp clown-like approach to choreography, critique and even song choice casts a long shadow of ridicule over the proceedings. Famed for producing boy bands, Walsh's ability to seek and nurture excellence must be in doubt, although his choices have certainly added to the show's publicity, if only for the wrong reasons.
The X Factor is certainly Simon Cowell's baby and it would seem odd not to see him on the panel, but he has already stepped away from his role on 'Britain's Got Talent' and as an entrepreneur it may not be long before he moves to a behind the scenes role on his mother ship, but surely another year will pass before such an eventuality. Of course Cheryl Cole has a lot to be grateful to the X Factor for, giving her a vehicle from which she has become one of the nation's most favourite sweethearts. Her solo career is now in full flood and 'Girls Aloud' appear to be slipping further into the wings of entertainment. She is rumoured to be a possible judge on the American version of the programme and to be seriously looking to break into the American music charts, but it seems unlikely that any agent would suggest she lets go of the programme that keeps her in the hearts and minds of millions of viewers however potent her international aspirations may be. Odds of 10/1 that Cheryl will leave first seem, if anything, a little short!
