England v Scotland Betting: Martin Johnsons side odds on to reach quarter finals

England take on Scotland on Saturday morning in New Zealand in what is a vital World Cup Pool B match, the winner likely to progress to the quarter-finals. Martin Johnson's side are well fancied to take the points and go through to the quarter-finals as group winners, with Bet365 going 1/7 about England's chances. Scotland must win by eight clear points if they are to stand a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages and Andy Robinson's side are 5/1 chances, with the unlikely draw available to back at 33/1.

England have made heavy work of their World Cup campaign to date, struggling to overcome an organised Argentinian side in their opener, eventually winning 13-9. The team gave away a plethora of penalties in that match an continued to do so in their 41-10 win over Georgia in their second match. A 67-3 victory over Romaina was an improvement but Martin Johnson will be looking for a really solid win over Scotland to boost morale and get the press on side for the knockout stages.

Scotland have also struggled in New Zealand, beating Romania but conceding two tries in the process (34-24) and only a 15-6 win over the tough Georgians. Scotland will do their best to tie England down and the liklihood is that it will become a battle of the forwards. Martin Johnson's side have been guilty of giving away far too many penalties at the breakdown and Andy Robinson will be doing his level best to make sure Scotland exploit this weakness. This could be a really tense occassion, with England favourites to make the quarter-finals. Martin Johnson's side are 10/1 third favourites with Bet365 to lift the trophy for the first time since 2003.
