New Zealand start as red hot favourites to beat France in Sunday's World Cup Final at Eden Park. The All Blacks are 1/9 on to beat the French in normal time and a huge 1/12 on to lift the trophy, while the little fancied French are 13/2 to win the match according to Paddy Power.
The Irish bookmaker took the remarkable step of paying out to those who backed New Zealand to win the World Cup pre-tournament as many rank this French side as the worst to ever grace the final.
Both are making their third appearance in a final, with New Zealand taking the title in 1987, while France are yet to lift the famous William Webb Ellis Trophy.
Few people are backing France to end that barren run this year as no team has ever lost two times during the tournament and gone on to win a World Cup. France lost group stage matches to Tonga and New Zealand, when they fielded a second string side, but have since managed to edge past England and Wales.
The 9-8 win over Wales was particularly fortunate as Sam Warburton was sent off and PaddyPower go 33/1 that there is a red card in Sunday's match. France struggled to make the most of their one man advantage against Wales but Marc Lievremont has opted to field an unchanged side against the All Blacks.
Vincent Clerc has played every minute of the tournament so far and has scored the most tries (6), with Paddy Power going 14/1 that he is first try scorer and 4/1 that he is France's first try scorer.
Try scorer markets are well worth a look with PaddyPower.com as they are offering to refund all losing try scorer bets on the match if the first try is scored by a number eleven.
New Zealand's Israel Dagg looks good value to be first try scorer at odds of 10/1 after notching five tries so far. Dagg is a key part of a formidable New Zealand unit that has coped admirably with injury problems.
Dan Carter and his replacement Colin Slade have been ruled out of the tournament but Piri Weepu has stepped in to do a marvellous job, scoring with 75% of his kicks, and he is 7/1 to be man of the match on Sunday.
New Zealand are looking to erase 24 years of hurt as they search for a first World Cup win since 1987 and they will be on their guard against a mercurial French side, particularly as France upset the odds against the All Blacks in 1999 and 2007 to knock them out.
France could be a decent punt in the handicap market this time as they are evens to win the match with an advantage of +16 points but it is tough to see this outfit causing an upset.
Four of the last five finals have been won by a margin of nine points or less and the New Zealand win by 1-12 points looks good at odds of 2/1 with Paddy Power, with the All Blacks finally securing the elusive Webb Ellis Cup on home soil.
