Gloucester welcome London Irish to their Kingsholm Stadium for the second time in two weeks and they will be hoping to hand out another thrashing to their visitors. They meet on Friday night in the Aviva Premiership just a fortnight after Gloucester ran out comprehensive 41-8 winners in the LV Cup, and the home side are hot favourites again in the betting with Bet 365. They are priced as 3/10 on, with Irish at 5/2, and the draw available at an industry best 22/1.
The Aviva Premiership season is starting to hot up now as sides look to grab one of those all important top four playoff places with Leicester Tigers running away at the top of the table. Gloucester go into the match in fourth spot, just one point ahead of London Irish but with two games in hand and they will know they cannot afford any slip ups at this stage of the season.
Form-wise it is hard to look beyond a Gloucester win as the match betting suggests and London Irish will have to recover quickly from that 41-8 mauling. They ran in five first half tries to end the match as a contest two weeks ago and the double result of a half time and full time Gloucester win is 8/13 on this weekend. Charlie Sharples was influential that day with two tries and he is an industry best priced 9/1 in the first tryscorer betting with B365.
Furthermore Gloucester are unbeaten at the Kingsholm in the Aviva Premiership and earned a hard fought 10-9 win over Wasps last weekend. They are further strengthened by the return of Olly Morgan from injury and Rory and Scott Lawson from Six Nations duty with Scotland, although the loss of winger James Simpson-Daniel is a blow. We still fancy Gloucester to run out comfortable winners though and they are 10/11 in the handicap betting with a handicap of -7 points.
London Irish will be keen to improve on a woeful display from their last visit to Kingsholm and will have been boosted by the win over lowly Newcastle Falcons last weekend. They welcome Tom Homer, Chris Malone and Foan Rautenbach into the fold, although those additions are countered by the loss of Paul Hodgson and Sailosi Tagicakiba. The one outstanding performer for them this season has been the Aviva Premiership top tryscorer Topsy Ojo. The winger has scored 7 tries already and he looks great value at 12/1 to score the first try with Bet365.com or 5/2 to score anytime.
Gloucester look well set to notch an important win though and it might not be the same sized margin as last time but the Gloucester winning margin of 13+ points could be worth a look at 13/8 in the betting with B365.
