Two sides who both tasted defeat during the opening weekend of the 2011 Six Nations clash at Murrayfield on Saturday as Scotland host Wales. Scotland lost out to France last week with Wales suffering defeat at the hands of bitter rivals England, and with both sides desperate for a win this weekend it is Scotland who are favourites at 8/13 with Boylesports. Wales are 5/4 in the betting meanwhile, with the draw available at 18/1.
A win is crucial on Saturday as any hopes of winning the Six Nations would be all but extinguished with defeat, and Wales are now as short as a tempting 4/1 in the betting to finish bottom of the table with the wooden spoon following their disappointing showing against England. They lost 26-19 at the Millennium Stadium as they were made to rue missed chances, and the following day Scotland battled to a respectable 34-21 defeat to France at the partisan Stade de France.
Boosted by a home crowd this weekend, Scotland go in as favourites and we fancy they could well justify that favouritism. They seem to have added an extra dimension to their game as they ran in three tries against the French, despite having scored only 11 tries in the previous 12 matches under the guidance of coach Andy Robinson. With the seemingly new free scoring attitude there could be some value to be had in the first scoring play betting with Boylesports.com, as they offer the first score to be a Scottish try as a 5/1 bet.
Andy Robinson has named an unchanged side from the one that lost to France, while under pressure Wales coach Warren Gatland has made changes to personnel and positions. Gatland has been criticised for his constant public statements and he has reacted by dropping Stephen Jones to the bench and moving James Hook to fly half.

Historically, Wales have had the wood on Scotland with six wins in the last seven years, including a narrow 31-24 win last year at the Millennium Stadium. It could be another close match this year and Scotland can be backed in the handicap betting market at -3 and are available at 10/11 with Boyles. We fancy Scotland to repeat their sole victory of the last seven years from back in 2007 when they won 21-9, and the double result of a half time and full time Scotland win is currently an industry best priced 11/8 bet.
It is likely to be a closely fought match and a winning margin for Scotland of 1-5 points is available at 9/2 with Boyles. A Scottish win would heap the pressure on Gatland and Wales, and would also offer hope that Scotland can start to compete at the top end of the table after several years of batting with Italy to avoid the wooden spoon.
