The All Blacks, already champions, with their 100% record so far in this year’s tournament, are huge 2/5 odds on favourites to win this final 2010 Tri Nations match against Australia in Sydney this Saturday. Should the odds be realised then it would mean that the All Blacks will have won the last ten matches against their neighbours and great rivals, whilst at the same time becoming the first country in the Tri nations to win six from six. Australia have odds of 15/8 to win the match themselves while the draw is a highly unlikely 22/1

Of course such an outcome is barely digestible by most Australians, including the team who, if there is one certain thing in this match, will be all out to stop them and win the match themselves in front of a packed home crowd. The Wallabies come into the match, following their last kick victory over South Africa in an absolute epic of a match in Bloemfontein last week. It was the first time for 47 years that Australia had beaten South Africa at altitude and possibly marked a sea change in the Wallaby rugby mentality, they will now have the belief that they can win this match against the All Blacks.
2010 Tri Nations Odds Comparison, Table and Results
Australia will put out an unchanged team from last week, which means that fly half, Quade Cooper, will be playing against the country of his birth for the first time, as he missed the two other 2010 Tri Nations matches due to suspension. Cooper could easily be the Australian key to victory in the match too with his outstanding trickery and run making being attributes that only few teams can deal with. Indeed, Richie McCaw, the Kiwi open side flanker and captain has already publicly declared that he will be the man to take on Cooper making the battle between the two decisive one way or another.
Australia v New Zealand Handicap Odds
10/11 Australia @ 6.0, 10/11 New Zealand @ -6.0, 22/1 Draw. Odds available from Paddy Power
Australia started off their matches against South Africa at a phenomenal pace, dictated by Genia and Cooper at half back, they tore into the ‘SpringBoks’ at every conceivable opportunity, which is a tactic that they are sure to repeat here. It is why we think that they might be a good bet at 11/10 to score first in the match, at 5/4 to score the first try and 5/4 to reach 10 points first. These odds are a bit skinny as individual bets but would be a nice earner if backed as a treble with Paddy Power.com.
Overall we think that New Zealand, who will be without regular fly half, Dan Carter and who have made five changes in total might just meet their match in Sydney. It would of course be a fantastic feat for them to maintain their 100% record in this year’s Tri Nations, but we are going to take Australia to get home and win a very close contest by between 1-5 points, which can be backed at 6/1 with paddypower.
