South Africa go into their final Tri-Nations match against Australia in Bloemfontein, with Ladbrokes Bookmakers making them massive 2/7 odds on favourites, with the Wallabies at 5/2 to deny them.
After coming back twice from being 14 points down last week South Africa proved that they are worthy world champions and as well as the Wallabies played in the first half, they will need to play better and play for both halves, this time around. There were probably several reasons why Australia failed to hold on to their leads last week, with one of them certainly being Springbok lock, Victor Matfield, who dominated the line out, winning crucial Australian ball on four different occasions when his team were under severe pressure. Another factor was most definitely the altitude, which clearly got to the Wallabies in the second half, allowing the Boks to go on the rampage and reducing the visitors to a solitary Matt Giteau penalty in the 40 minutes. It is a glaring statistic that Australia have not won a single test match at altitude against South Africa in 47 previous encounters and they will have to end that run if they to win this test.

The Australia collapse last week was also due to two other major reasons; firstly that they were out-muscled up front and secondly they missed tackles constantly, particularly in the second half. To that end Robbie Deans has brought in hooker Stephen Moore, second row, Mark Chisholm and No. 8 Ben McCalman.

Australian outside half, Quade Cooper whilst a superb exponent of attacking half back play, struggled throughout the match in defence, which allowed for several barn-storming runs from the Boks centres, Jaque Fourie and Jean de Villiers, which went a long way to creating the comeback tries to win the match. Fourie in particular looked a huge threat and he would be our tip to go over for the first try in this week’s match for which he has tasty odds of 11/1 with Ladbrokes.com
We would also tip Boks winger, Bryan Habana, to repay some of the faith that coach Peter de Villiers has kept in him, particularly as it was two mistakes from him last week that led to two Wallabies tries. The flying winger has only scored eight tries in the 29 tests that he has played under de Villiers compared to 30 in 36 before that. Habana, we think is a sound betting tip therefore to score at least one try at even money, but he would also be worth a small wager to score a hat trick of tries with odds of 25/1, this time available from Paddy Power
All in all we can only see one winner here and it will be South Africa, but it will almost certainly be a hugely enjoyable, action packed game which we think will end up in an 11-15 points difference win, which can be backed at 5/1 with Ladbrokes.com
