The first and most important is probably the speed of the game and the fact that it is played much quicker online. Players can take part in anything upto 100 hands in an hour. The second factor is the explosion of poker on television and the huge amounts being won and lost on live tv poker. The third factor is the celebrity poker players such as Ben Affleck.
Next up for PokerRoom.com is a version that can be played on cellular phones. "If you're sitting in an airport and your plane is five hours late it's perfect," said Selin.
