Betfair Hurdle Odds

The Betfair Hurdle is a Grade 3 handicap race at Newbury, which is run over two miles with eight hurdles to be jumped. It is open to horses four years old and above and is often seen as a trial or a warm up for the annual Cheltenham Festival which takes place a month later and is one of the biggest betting occasions in sport.

When considering the ante-post betting, it is fair to say that past winners of the race have not really covered themselves in glory in later races, however one past winner was the great Persian War who went on to win the Champion Hurdle three times.

The race was formerly known as the Totesport Trophy but was renamed the Betfair Hurdle as of 2012.

Recession Proof landed the spoils for the north for trainer Brian Ellison, winning in a fantastic finish with Bothy. The winner looks likely to compete in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham and bookmakers clipped him in to around the 10/1 mark for that race.
