The Totesport Mile is one of the biggest betting races held during the annual Glorious Goodwood Festival. It is held on the fourth day and it is a Class Two Heritage Handicap, open to horses three years or older which is raced over 1 mile and carries prize money in excess of £150,000. It is the richest race of its type in th UK. The draw for this race is one of the most significant in horse racing.
Roger Charlton, the Beckhampton trainer is a man to be respected at Goodwood generally and in this race particularly. He saddled the winners in both 2007 and 2008 and has a lively bunch of entrants this year too.
Winner in fact in 2009 was the Mark Johnston trained, Laa Rayb, who was pushed all the way by 2006 winner, Spectait.

Boom And Bust made all from stall one to win the 2011 Totesport Mile. It made it three wins out of three for Hayley Turner aboard the 4-year-old. Ante-post favourite Green Destiny had started as short as 15/8 and was thought to be in an ideal position from stall seven but he was never in contention, with Proponent, Pintura and Sooraah making up the places.
