Temple Stakes Betting

The Temple Stakes takes place each during late May at Haydock Park and it is a short but sweet race that provides plenty of excitement for punters and horse racing enthusiasts alike.

The Group Two race involves a distance of just five furlongs and it is open to thoroughbred horses aged 4 years of age and over. It goes without saying that when considering your ante-post bet it is well worth looking out for those horses with explosive pace as there is so little time for anything other than electric pace in this race.

It used to be held at Sandown Park each year but moved to Haydock in 2008, where it has become a permanent fixture and attracts plenty of betting interest.

The race has proved popular with punters as many consider a betting double on the Temple Stakes and the King's Stand Stakes at the Royal Ascot Meeting. Many runners from Haydock go on to compete in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, and it could be worthwhile to check out the odds of a horse winning both races this year.

Meanwhile, when considering the Temple Stakes ante-post odds it is worth looking out for horses from the stables of Sir Michael Stoute, as the legendary trainer has five wins in the race to his name and a record that demands respect.

Sole Power charged to a convincing win as the 4-year-old eased into the mix before pushing into the lead close to home to win by three quarters of a length from Kingsgate Native. Although there was disappointment for ante-post favourite backers as the much vaunted Overdose failed to impress - finishing seventh.
