Skybet Chase Odds

Formerly known as the Great Yorkshire Chase, The Skybet Chase is a listed three mile chase raced at the Doncaster racecourse at the end of January each year. It is an ideal race for trainers wishing to trial some of their leading candidates for some of the lesser races at the Cheltenham Festival in March or indeed the Aintree Grand National in April.

Champion trainer Paul Nicholls won this race in 2009 with Big Fella Thanks and the same horse came in sixth in the 2009 National and followed that up with a fourth place in the 2010 renewal. Nicholls has a decent record and decent form in this race and has an interesting array of runners for this year’s renewal.

Grand National

Obviously the most famous horse race in the UK if not the world, the Aintree Grand National looms large once again on the National Hunt horizon. The race takes place in April and as usual it will have a field of 40 runners, who will take on the four and half mile marathon as well as its thirty formidable fences.

It can be an unpredictable race as was proven in 2009 when 100/1 outsider Mon Mome, who became the first horse since 1967 to defy those odds.
