Home / Horse Racing / Reynoldstown Novices Chase
The Reynoldstown Novices' Chase is held in February each year at Ascot and is an important race in the horse racing calendar as it serves as a trial for the RSA Chase at Cheltenham Festival in March, which means there is always plenty of betting interest from punters and bookmakers alike with the Festival just around the corner.
The race itself is a Grade 2 National Hunt chase for novice chasers and is for horses aged 5 years and above. There are 20 fences to be jumped during the 3 mile race distance, and the race is named after the legendary racehorse Reynoldstown, who won the Grand National twice in the 1930s.
There is always plenty of interest in the ante-post odds for the race as punters look out for some value both at Ascot and for Cheltenham in March, with many contenders for the RSA Chase likey to be in attendance for this trial. The last horse to win both the Reynoldstown Novices Chase and the RSA Chase in the same season was Jonjo O'Neills Albertas Run in 2008, and there is sure to be plenty of value to be found in the betting for the feat to be repeated.
