Princess of Wales's Stakes Betting

The Princess of Wales's Stakes is part of the July Festival meeting at Newmarket and it generally takes place on the second day on the July Course.

It is tremendous betting opportunity as there are three days of top notch racing to bet on, and the race takes place on the same day as the July Stakes, while other notable races include the Lancashire Oaks, the Cherry Hinton Stakes and of course the meeting's highlight - the July Cup.

The Princess of Wales's Stakes is for thoroughbreds aged three years and over and it is now Group Two race after being upgraded in 1978. The race involves a distance of 1 mile and 4 furlongs and in form contenders from the stables of Sir Michael Stoute are generally worth keeping an eye in the ante-post betting.

Stoute has claimed seven winners in total and it could be a good idea to start with those entries trained by the legendary trainer when looking at the odds. Meanwhile, there is an interesting trend of 4-year-old winners in recent years, which is another factor to consider when studying the form and odds for this exciting flat race.

Sir Michael Stoute picked up an eighth win in the race as his Crystal Capella destroyed the field to win by eight lengths. The lightly raced Crystal Capella cruised to victory from 2/1 favourite Redwood, with Buthelezi six lengths further back in third.
