The Powers Gold Cup is part of an exciting horse racing festival that provides four days of betting opportunities for punters. The race takes place on Easter Sunday at the four day meeting known as the Fairyhouse Easter Festival, and the Festival also includes the Irish Grand National - the Irish version of the British Aintree Grand National.
The Powers Gold Cup race is an exciting race in its own right though and a fantastic opportunity for punters to check out the ante-post odds and get involved in horse racing betting.
The race is a Grade One national hunt chase at Fairyhouse racecourse for novice chasers aged 5 years old and over. The 2 mile 4 furlong trip involves 16 fences to be jumped and with a £100,000 prize purse on offer there is always plenty of quality on show, usually from the Irish stables.
When considering your ante-post bet it is worth noting that current jockey Paul Carberry is joint leader for Powers Gold Cup race wins with three, while former trainer Jim Dreaper leads the way with five wins. Of the current trainers, Noel Meade and Michael Hourigan have enjoyed success and are likely to enter some strong contenders from their stables.

The Irish Grand National is part of the same exciting four day Fairyhouse Easter Festival meeting as the Powers Gold Cup and is the feature of the weekend.
It takes place on Easter Monday and is the Irish equivalent of the British Grand National at Aintree. It is shorter in distance as it involves a 3 mile and 5 furlong trip, with 24 fences to be negotiated along the way.
There is always strong competition from the Irish stables, with the likes of Mouse Morris, Jonjo O'Neill and Noel Meade enjoying success in recent years, and the betting is likely to be as competitive as ever this year with plenty at stake.....
