The high profile Peterborough Chase is held at Huntingdon during November or December each year and is a Grade 2 National Hunt Chase. It is part of Huntingdon's showpiece fixture of the year and providdes a great opportunity for betting as the season heads towards a busy Christmas period. It is for horses aged four years old and over and is run over 2 miles and 4 1/2 furlongs with 16 fences to be negotiated.
The race itself is often used as a trial for the Ryanair Chase or the Champion Chase, and in recent times the race has been hugely successful for trainer Henrietta Knight who had a remarkable total of eight winners between 1998 and 2007. Keep an eye out for horses she has trained in the ante-post betting when considering the horse racing odds and who you might have a punt on. Knight's Edredon Bleu managed to win the race four consecutive times between 1998 and 2001, a feat that was never matched before or since.

The most prestigious 2 mile chase in national hunt racing is held on the second day of the Cheltenham Festival in March each year and is the highlight of the day. It is for 5 year olds and over and has been won in the past by some of the greats of the sport.
Top trainers such as Paul Nicholls, Philip Hobbs and Nicky Henderson have enjoyed great success in the past. It was Nicholls' Master Minded who set the race alight in 2008 and 2009 with successive victories, while Big Zeb claimed glory in 2010.
This year's race should make for great watching again and it is always worth looking out for those Paul Nicholls trained horses for a punt. While previous recent winners Master Minded and Big Zeb could well head the betting in what could be a mouth watering clash between the two.....
