Peter Marsh Chase Betting

The Peter Marsh Chase is a much anticipated betting race in the national hunt horse racing calendar as it is seen as an important race in the build up to the most prestigious handicap around - the Grand National.

It is a Grade Two Limited Handicap contest and it takes place each year during January at Haydock racecourse. The ground can often be a testing at this time of year at Haydock and the three mile trip will give great insight into a horse's stamina, with punters keen to gauge how a horse might cope with the gruelling trip of the National at Aintree in April ahead of any potential ante-post betting picks.

Our Vic won the Peter Marsh in 2010 and he was a winner of the Totesport Bowl at Aintree a few years previously. Other previous winners have gone on to compete in the Grand National, although it has been with limited success so far as 2006 winner Ebony Light fell at Aintree, while 2007 champion The Outlier unseated his rider at the Aintree showpiece.
