The Nell Gwyn Stakes takes place during the Craven Meeting in April on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket. It is a great betting opportunity as the race is seen as an important race trial for the flat season's fillies' classics.

It is a Group Three race and is open to 3-year-old thoroughbred fillies, as they compete over a distance of seven furlongs. There is a £50,000 prize purse on offer and like the Craven Stakes at the same meeting it serves as an important trial and offers an important insight for punters into the early season classics.

In particular it is an important trial for the 1000 Guineas, which is also for 3-year-old thoroughbred fillies at Newmarket. Punters could even take advantage of a betting double and look at the odds for a horse to win the Nell Gwyn and the 1000 Guineas, particularly as Speciosa achieved that feat in 2006. Meanwhile, 1999 winner Valentine Waltz went on to win the French 1000 Guineas.
